In conjunction with the project, Dundee City Council’s Children and Families Service has updated the ‘Policy on Provision for Young Carers in Primary and Secondary Schools’ which outlines the commitment of the department to ensuring young carers are better identified and offered extra support through both the school and Dundee Carers Centre, if necessary.

In partnership with staff and pupils from Braeview Academy we have developed a resource pack for teachers of S1-S4, which includes lesson plans, resources and links.  The sessions aim to raise awareness and promote a more general understanding of caring, with the aim of identifying hidden young carers and reducing the isolation and bullying they often experience.  The pack is available to download below in full, or as sections for year groups:
